Whether EA will be brave enough to add VAR to the gameplay is one of the features that is still being discussed.

The VAR is a very important part of the soccer matches these days and it would make a lot of sense to include it in EA FC 24. However, the question that needs to be asked is whether it will help or hinder the gameplay and the overall enjoyment of the game. We'll have a look at whether or not VAR will be a part of FC 24 and what effect it will have on the game - positive or negative.

Will VAR be a new feature in EA Sports FC 24?
There has been no official confirmation, but at the moment EA will not have VAR as a new feature in EA FC 24, nor have there been any conversations or announcements about its inclusion in their latest title. VAR will not be a part of the more immersive experience despite the inclusion of gameplay features such as PlayStyles, Hypermotion V, the new referee camera and an upgraded Unreal Engine.

If it will be included in DLC or patch notes after the release of FC 24, EA hasn't confirmed yet. As GINX reports, EA's preference is to keep the game flowing from start to finish with as few pauses as possible. Certain cutscenes and animations already add minutes to the game; VAR would only increase the time spent not playing but looking, much like an RPG title with lots of cutscenes.

What is the VAR?
VAR is Video Assistant Referee for those who do not watch football but enjoy playing it (which is less likely to be the case for those who play sports video games). It is used when the game is stopped to help make a "better" decision on a call that may have initially gone the wrong way. 

The call is overturned if the wrong call was made by the match official. Fouls in the box (penalty calls) and offside in goal-scoring situations are the main areas where the Video Assistant Referee is used.

Is VAR going to have a negative impact on EA Sports FC ? 
This is not an easy yes or no question. It's going to depend on how the players feel about it. For certain modes of the single player game, VAR will add an even more immersive aspect to the game. On the other hand, players may get tired and enjoy the game less than expected if calls continue to go against the player or if VAR reviews take too long.

It's an addition to the game that no one will miss, but at the same time it would be fascinating to see what it would be like to have VAR as a feature in a football video game. Maybe later, in the distant future, we'll get to test it as a new inclusion. Right now, it's all about playing football, and we want to keep it that way.
